Carl E. Cederholm is a Brooklyn, NY based painter, sculptor and designer.

Growing up in the 1970s as the son of a toy designer, Carl got an early education in design and engineering from some of the most creative people in the toy and game world in a pre-computer era. This mechanically based introduction to the creative process turned into a life-long passion for fabrication and construction that is evident in his three dimensional work.

Within the walls of the Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Institute of Boston, Carl was introduced to classical oil painting and how perfectly is captures light on the human form. It wasn’t long before the trainings of painters Amy Surdarsky and Martin Muller were evident in Carl’s work.

Boston in the early 1990s proved to be a productive time in Carl’s career. Multiple awards and numerous commissioned work kept the South End factory that Carl called home active.

A move to NYC in the late ‘90s introduced Carl to the world of film, digital art and the web. It also introduced a New York and Pennsylvanian gallery to Carl’s work where is resided for years.

Carl’s studio in a quite neighborhood in Brooklyn is the home to his recent creations, including small metal works, figurative oil and digital paintings, commissioned portraits and his commercial work. It is also home to his wife and kids and small growing collection of vintage vehicles.
